You can take train rides through the mountains at The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in Bryson, NC. You can take a train ride through the Nantahala Gorge. The train departs at Bryson City, the Nantahala Gorge Excursion travels along the Tuckasegee River, past Fontana Lake and deep into the Nantahala River Gorge. Some of this trip include the Horseshoe Curve, the Fontana Lake Trestle and a layover at Nantahala Outdoor Center. This is truely a great experience.
